"Lonesome Blue" (SPITCD002) boasts cameos from Alex Chilton, Stevie "Belle & Sebastian" Jackson and fiddlin' startlet of the UK folk scene John McCusker. For this fine platter the Sweethearts have cooked up 15 tracks (count 'em) of tunesome, toe-tappin' down home sounds. There are Western swing numbers ("Bummin Around", "Let Me Be Your Man Tonight"), heartbreaking ballads ("Heart On The Line" and live favourite "Take Me Back to San Francisco") next to straight ahead honky-tonkers such as "Drinkin Bout You All Night" and the title track. This time round the boys even take a stab at an instrumental - "Sweethearts Hoedown" - written with young McCusker.Golly gee...!
