The legendary LA songwriter - performer - producer - scenester and all round legend is back. So what does he have to say for himself?: "Phil Spector may kill people but I still make new recordings"

"These adventures in cyberspace can cause the same
feeling of emptiness as being stranded in a 19th century cotton
field or swamp. Yeah, I wrote the lyric in Kilkenny, Ireland
because I didnt have internet access at the time." (Kim Fowley)

liner notes...
Dear Listener/Liner Note Reader: I
didnt arrive in Glasgow, Scotland until 1995. I was 56
years old. My Rock N Roll past was a source of curiosity to the
folks I met in the Glasgow Music Scene. I felt like John Lee
Hooker-Chuck Berry meeting the much younger Rolling Stones and
Yardbirds. I was no longer the young rebel producer-song writer.
Instead I was the cranky-moody old guy from Hollywood USA who was
trotted out to perform live at the 13th Note and live on BBC
Radio. Yes, I got to co-produce BMX Bandits and produce a classic
Country Rock masterpiece by the vastly underrated Radio
Sweethearts. I found additional time to record in Norman
Blakes studio a track with Teenage Fan Club used on the
Reading 95 CD Box Set, and yes thats my voice on the 1st
Future Pilot AKA album CD (Beggars Banquet).
When I
came back to Galsgow in late December 99 I appeared on 3 separate
BBC Scotland TV programs as seen on BBC Choice. I did 2
additional BBC Radio Interviews.
Im always most comfortable Behind the Scenes wearing my
Producer-Composer-Lyric Writer hat. But in person when you
finally behold Kim Fowley you get a Human Being Movie on a
Overactive Giraffe level. Because of my overwhelming persona I am
always given the opportunity to perform live and sing on albums.
Its a lot of fun to watch me stumble through my recording
artist and performing artist dilemmas. Most aspiring singers
NEVER get as many chances to perform and sing as I do. Im a
reluctant performer. When I am found dead, listeners will all
ponder what would have happened if other voices would have sung
these same songs. Frank MacDonald-Duglas Stewart-Davie Scott
SHOULD have sung lead vocals on this album, but they didnt.

YES THIS ALBUM CAN BE ENJOYED AS A PERMANENT RECORDING OF A
CLEVER SONG WRITER CROAKING OUT SOME USEABLE VOCAL MELODIES
UNFORTUNATLY HINDERED BY NON SINGING SKILLS. BUT THEN THERE ARE
THOSE LISTENERS WHO APPRECIATE THE FIRST RECORDINGS OF WONDERFUL
SONGS THAT OTHER VOICES WILL HOPEFULLY COVER IN THE FUTURE.
I do want to thank Frank MacDonald for taking so much studio
time-money to sing and play most if not all of the instrumental
and backing vocals that you hear.
Yes I
should have moved to Glasgow from Kilkenny and stayed there.
Instead I live in exile on the Edge Of The California
Desert
where Im just as out of place as I was in
Kilkenny. I call my current situation Siberia with Sand Dunes.
Hey, IF YOU LIKE TORMENT-MADNESS-GENIUS-FLAWED VOCALS OF
WONDERFUL SONGS
THEN THIS IS THE ALBUM FOR YOU TO CHERISH
AND ENJOY.
Someday Shoeshine Records will release the
Kim Fowley album Ghosts of Scotland which has that Fish N Chips
vibration you all crave. We recorded this unreleased gem in 1995.
Keep badgering Frank to someday release this lost Glasgow
semi-work of art.
